Jewell Alice Phillips Williams, age 80, of Clinton, went home to with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 22, 2015, after a sixteen-year long courageous battle with cancer. Jewell was indeed a jewel, a rare treasure that will leave a lasting impact on all who knew her. She graduated from Norris High School in 1953, and found much fulfillment in her vocation as secretary at Glen Alpine and Andersonville Elementary School, where she truly left an indelible mark on countless lives with her infectious smile and nurturing care. Her true passion, outside of her family, was her service to the Lord through her music at Bethel Baptist Church. She began playing the piano at the age of sixteen and then moved to the organ, which she played for the past sixty-four years. Known for her twinkling eyes, beautiful grin and hats to match every outfit, Jewell's presence will be so sorely missed but her legacy of faithfulness, joy, strength, and love will forever live on in the hearts of all who loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gaines and Kate Phillips.
She leaves behind temporarily her loving husband of 60 years, Earl Williams. Together they have shown a beautiful example of sacrificial love, caring for each other selflessly, faithfully committed to one another, and displaying to all how God intended marriage to be- a picture of Christ and His Bride, the church.
She is also survived by the pride and joy of her life, her children and grandchildren:

Jewell had so many devoted, lifelong friends and a church family that she truly adored.

The family would like to express their deepest love and appreciation to oncologist and friend, Dr. Bruce Avery, and nurse Carol; UT Hospice staff, especially nurse Vicki Allen; Professional Case Management and nurse Sara Fields for your kindness and support throughout this journey.

The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm, Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Bethel Baptist Church with her funeral service to follow. Rev. JC Newman and Rev. Darryl Taylor officiating. Her graveside will be 11:00 am, Monday at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
