Obituary


Jerry Lynn Tanner, Sr of Clinton peacefully passed away Tuesday November 27, 2012 at his home after a yearlong battle with lung cancer. He was an Army career veteran serving 2 tours in Vietnam. He was stationed all over the U.S. and overseas while in the army. He received several medals while being on active duty in Vietnam.
He became a member of Second Baptist Church in Clinton as a child. After retiring he moved back to Clinton where he was born along with his wife and children. He became a cabinet maker for several years after his stent in the army. He also worked for the Oak Ridger for several more years. He was a true man of honesty and integrity.
He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Jerry Lynn Tanner, Jr. who was killed in a tragic car accident at Christmas 2001. He also was preceded in death by his father, Elvis Tanner; mother, Ruth Tanner Davidson; sister, Carla and brother, Douglas.
He is survived to cherish his memory of 45 years, Linda Kesterson Tanner of Clinton; his youngest son, Jeffrey Tanner of Clinton; daughter, Stacie Ann Tanner of North Carolina.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 6-8pm at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 8:00pm.
Graveside services will be Friday, November 30th at 11:00am at Sunset Cemetery in Clinton. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of the arrangements. www.holleygamblefh.com.
