Jean Cooper Rhyne, age 79, passed away on October 8, 2010 at Golden Living Center- Winwood in Clinton after a long illness. She was born July 2, 1931 in Clinton, TN to Clarence and Mary Cooper. Survived by loving husband of 60 years, John Rhyne, who
devotedly cared for her during her long illness; children, Gordon Rhyne (Trudy), Greg Rhyne (Vickie), Cynthia Rhyne Pike (David), and Susan Rhyne; grandchildren, Audrey Rhyne Tauxe (Gary), Rachel Rhyne Kimberly (Josh), Veronica Pike, Jonathon Pike, and Suzanne Zuckerman; great grandchild, Shelby Tauxe; brother, Jack Cooper (Brenda); nieces, Stacey Cooper and Kim Cooper Wolf.
Jean graduated from Clinton High School in 1949 where she was a Drum Major. Jean and John were married on November 12, 1949 in Clinton. In later years, Jean and John were members of the 49'ers, a group of classmates who traveled together and shared lots of memories and good times. Jean excelled in raising her family, culinary arts, talented seamstress, gardener, St. Bernard dog breeder, and in her spare time was an avid reader and loved traveling the world with John. Jean was of the Baptist faith.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 1-2:00pm at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Earl Wilson officiating. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
