Our dear sister, Janet Garner, age 68, was ushered into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her sisters.

Janet enjoyed walking throughout her neighborhood and valued the time spent with her neighbors. She also looked forward to her visits to the gym, where she found joy and fulfillment.

Over the course of 42 years, Janet dedicated herself to her work at ORNL Credit Union, where she retired after a long and distinguished career. Following retirement, Janet was excited to embark on travels around the world.

Janet was actively involved in her church community and delighted in playing the piano and singing. Her greatest passion was her love for the Lord, and she began each morning with devotion and Bible reading.

Janet was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Duty Holt; father, Tallie Holt, Sr., and her brothers, Russell Holt and Tallie Holt, Jr.

She is survived by her brothers, Jim Duty & wife Mary, and Charles Duty; sisters, Rachael Henderson & husband David, Linda Bass & husband Albert, and Eleanor Pullen; daughter, Lauren Elizabeth Garner; grandson, Curtis "CJ" James Cockrum; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Dominion Senior Living of Crossville and Caris Hospice nurses, Julie and Elaine, for the love and support given to Janet and her family.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm, Friday, April 10, 2026, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home.  Her funeral service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Steve McDonald officiating.  Janet's graveside will immediately follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
