James Robert White passed away Monday, April 7, 2025, at the age of 82. Jim (or Jimmy as family and childhood friends called him) was the oldest of two boys. He was born May 7, 1942, in Kankakee, Illinois to Horice and Lorraine (Harvey) White. Jim graduated from Kankakee High School and went to work for Illinois Central Railroad. He paused his career when he enlisted in the Air Force and was proud to have served his country. Upon discharge, he returned to Illinois Central Railroad where he completed a 42-year career. He met the love of his life, Glenda (Reed) in 1966, and they were married in April of 1967. They have 2 daughters, Beth and Connie, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Jim was devoted to his family and his church. A man of integrity and a strong work ethic, he worked hard and loved deeply. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and the Tennessee Volunteers, fishing, church softball league, spending time with family, and a good hot dog. And, if you needed one, he always had a spare coat and a dad joke.

Jim is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Glenda; his daughters, Beth White of Clinton, TN, and Connie Schreiner (Jamie) of Brownsburg, IN; Grandchildren, Wyatt Schreiner of Brownsburg, James Bigler (Anystin) of O'Fallon, MO, Eliana Ridenour (Josh) of Whitestown, IN, Emily Bigler of Clinton, TN and Reed Schreiner of Brownsburg, IN; two great grandchildren, Azariah and Chloe Bigler, three nieces, one nephew, seven great nieces and one great nephew, and many cousins.

Jim was preceded in death by his brother David and his parents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday April 10, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM. The funeral service will begin at 6PM. Burial will be Friday morning, at 11:00 AM at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Powell. Reverend Paul Mount will officiate. Memorials may be made to Sacred Ground Hospice.
