James Ray Leinart, age 72 of Briceville, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at his home. He was born on July 19, 1949 to the late Buford and Margaret Leinart in Briceville. He joined the United States Army in 1966 and retired in 2006. He served in Vietnam from August of 1967 through August of 1968. He served in Iraq in 2004 through 2005. He had a total of 31 years of service between the US Army and Army National Guard. He worked for the Anderson County Sheriff's Office for 22 years and served as Sergeant over the Drug Task Force. James also served his community in the Briceville Volunteer Fire Department; he was chief from 1979-1984. He will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Susie Lawson; son-in-law, Johnny Huskey.

He is survived by: wife, Joyce Leinart; children, Rachel Seidner and husband Shane, Stacey Burnette and husband Mark, Amy Huskey, James Leinart, Jr. and wife, Lisa; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Charles Leinart, Avery Leinart, Lynn Leinart, Phil Leinart, Dennis Leinart, Vickie Burris, and Nora Leinart.

The family will receive friends at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Rocky Top on Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 5-7pm and on Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 2-4pm with the funeral service to follow at 4pm with Rev. Archie Seiber and Rev. Danny Lawson officiating. Graveside services will be on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Grandview Memorial Garden at 11am. www.holleygamble.com
