Barrington, Rev. Herschel Perry Barrington age 93, passed away
Thursday, June 19th, 2014 at Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Rev. Barrington was a former member of First Baptist Church, Clinton,
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in the Dutch Valley community, and until
his passing, South Clinton Baptist Church in Clinton.
Rev. Barrington was born in Hawthorne, Florida on May 14, 1921. He
received his B.A. degree from Stetson University, DeLand, Florida in
1950. He also received a B.D.degree from New Orleans Baptist
Theological Seminary, New Orleans, Louisiana in 1953. Rev. Barrington
was licensed by Eliam Baptist Church in Melrose, Florida in 1947. He
then was ordained by the Rockville Baptist Church in Jackson, Alabama
in 1953.
A Pearl Harbor survivor, Rev. Barrington served in the U.S. Navy from
February 21, 1941 until 1947. After his military service and acquiring
his educational degrees he became Pastor at Rockville Baptist Church in
Jackson, Alabama from 1951-54. He was then Pastor at Barbara Locklin
Baptist Church in Perdue Hill, Alabama until 1956. Rev. Barrington was
acutely interested in the Baptist Mission work, both foreign as well as
domestic. He was Superintendent of Missions in the Bethlehem
Association and Choctaw County Association in Alabama from 1956-
1967. In 1967 he moved to Clinton, Tennessee to be Clinton's
Associational Director of Missions until his retirement in May of 1986.
After retirement he served as Pastor and interim Pastor at Pleasant Hill
Baptist Church for over twenty years.

Rev. Barrington is preceded in death by his parents, Burness Austin
Barrington and Sarah Perry Barrington; wife, Zannie Stanley Barrington;
brother and sister, Burness Austin Barrington, Jr., Julia Barrington
Lippman. Rev. Barrington is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law;
Herschel and Kay Barrington, Ben and Theresa Barrington. He had six
grand children, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and
nephews.
There will be a visitation with the family at Holley-Gamble Funeral
Home in Clinton, Tennessee, Friday, June 27 from 4:00-6:00 P.M.
His graveside service and burial will be held at his family home in
Melrose, Florida.
