Helen Ruth Hackworth Rapier, age 84 of Clinton, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Ruth was born on June 16, 1929 to the late Samuel Floyd and Annie Dail Hackworth. She was a member of Valley View Baptist Church and was retired from Clinch Powell Regional Library Center. Ruth was an involved and loving member of her church and community. She was passionate about music and books and was able to share this love with others through her work at the library and playing the organ for many years at church. Ruth was a kind hearted soul, always putting others before herself and helping anyone in need as she was able. She graced all with a strong sense of family and deep love for nature, flowers, and gardening. Ruth will forever remain in our hearts a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend; and always with the image of a welcoming place beside her on the front porch to sip tea and watch the hummingbirds.
In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Calvin Rapier, Sr.; her son, Raymond Calvin Rapier, Jr.; brother, Kenneth O. Hackworth.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Knaffl and Debby Webster both of Clinton; her son Larry Rapier of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Diane Winter, Sam Knaffl IV, Daniel Webster, Benjamin Rapier and Jessica Webster; great grandchildren, Jack Foster, Natalie Rapier, Olivia Rapier and Colin Winter.
