Helen E. Fielden Alley Crumpley, surrounded by the love of her family and friends, Clinton's own, "Rosie the Riveter", Helen Crumpley, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. Her life of 95 years was beyond blessed. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1938. During World War II she worked at the Willow Run Plant near Ypsilanti, Michigan, making B-24 bombers; "Rosie the Riveter". For a short time she ran a gift shop in Jacksboro with her first husband, Claude Alley. After Claude's death she met and married another wonderful man, Milo Crumpley. She was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in South Clinton. Helping friends and family was a great joy in her life. She also loved to cook home-style foods and often shared generously with others. One of her favorite activities was going out to eat and shopping with her dear devoted friends, Brenda Smith, Betty Shorter and Alice Fay Loy,
who loved her and watched after her with love, tenderness and compassion.
She is preceded in death by husbands - Claude Alley and Milo Crumpley; parents - Robert Sr. and Ruthie Fielden; brothers - Durward (Jody), Carl, Glenn, Bob and Leslie Fielden; sister - Juantia Doane. She is survived by her sister, Mary Ruth Mason (Houston, Texas), sister-in-law - Carolyn Fielden (Clinton) and Bette Fielden and husband Richard (Spring, Texas). Also many caring nieces and nephews who were an important part of her life.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2015, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton, with the funeral to follow at 7:00 p.m. Her friend and pastor, Clayton Duncan, will officiate. Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m, Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens, Claxton.
