Helen Belle Dunkin Burress, age 93, of Clinton, entered the next world, Monday, August 29, 2011. A member of Second Baptist Church, Clinton, for more than 50 years, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School.
She worked for several years for Magnet Mills, but was primarily a homemaker and caregiver, devoting 22 years to her bedridden mother. She was proud of being descended from one of the first families to settle Dutch Valley, Anderson County. An avid genealogist for decades, she corresponded with people across the country.
Preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Sam Hall Burress; parents, Martin M. & Annabel Farmer Dunkin. Survivors include son Ernie (Annie) Burress, Clinton, TN; granddaughter Jessica Burress (Edward Morris), Lexington, KY; numerous family and friends in Dutch Valley. The family wishes to thank Summit View Healthcare Center, especially Social Worker Becky Rodd & nursing staff: Jamie, Donna, Michelle, and Pam & Ameidsys Hospice.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 1, from 6-7:30PM at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, Clinton, with eulogy to follow in the chapel, Rev. Jake Morrill officiating.
Family & friends will meet at 11:00AM on Friday September 2, at Dutch Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery for interment, followed by pot luck lunch.
