Helen Compton, age 86 of Clinton, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Briarcliff Healthcare Center/Diversicare in Oak Ridge. She was an employee of JC Penney for 35 years and a member of Moran Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by husband, Robert S. Compton; son, Rodney E. Compton; father, Clifton Reed and mother, Myrtle Johnson Reed; sisters, Marilyn Robbins, Nadine Perez, and Dorothy Shrader.
She is survived by sons, Robert L. (Von) Compton of Fayetteville, GA, David C. Compton and wife Inez of Cohutta, GA; daughter in-law, Fay Morrison of GA; grandson, Robert D. Compton of Orlando, FL; great granddaughters, Gabrielle Compton of Sarasota, FL and Amanda Compton of Orlando, FL; brother, Chalmer R. (Dick) Reed and wife Margaret of Batley, TN; sister, Mary Kay Edwards of Oak Ridge, TN; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 2nd from 12-2 PM at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral service will follow with Rev. Luke Kidwell officiating.
