Obituary

Heidi Weiffenbach Spurling of Norris, Tennessee was called home to God on November 4, 2024. Heidi was born May 6, 1965 in Portsmouth, Virginia and grew up in Lake City, Florida. She attended Maryville College in Tennessee, where she studied English and, most importantly, met the love of her life, Robert. Both Heidi and Robert continued schooling at Virginia Tech, where she earned her Masters in English. They settled in East Tennessee, where Heidi began a 32-year career as part of the Communications team at the Y-12 National Security Complex.

Heidi placed great importance on education and travel, and she gave the gift of these opportunities to her family. Together, they made memories travelling across Europe and in the United States. She also valued spending time outdoors, regularly doing so on family camping trips to the mountains of Southwestern Virginia.

She is preceded in death by her father, Don Weiffenbach. Her memory lives on through her loving husband Robert Rudolph Spurling III, children Robert Jackson, Caroline Christian, and Curtis Maclean, mother Betty McKay (Cliff), siblings David, Marjorie (Ken) and Patti Weiffenbach and through her nieces and friends.

Heidi was a kind, caring woman who was loved deeply by everyone whose lives she graced, especially her three children. Heidi's family remembers her with the spirit of Proverbs 31:28 – "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her."

Receiving of friends will be on Thursday November 7, 2024 from 4-6 pm at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton, Tennessee with funeral service to immediately follow.

Heidi's final resting place is at Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Springs, Virginia.

As part of Heidi's legacy, she advocated there is no substitute for a colonoscopy to screen for colon cancer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made anonymously to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to combat childhood cancer. www.holleygamble.com
