Harry Luther Bailey, Sr., age 79, of Clinton passed away April 13, 2011 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Warren Bailey; parents, Paul and Wanita Bailey; his first wife and mother of his sons, Marian.

Harry grew up in Knoxville, TN where he graduated from the old Knoxville High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Navy in Naval Aviation during the Korean War. After serving his country in the Navy, Harry returned to Knoxville where he attended the University of TN graduating in 1957. He then began his career with Union Carbide, Y-12 Plant, in Oak Ridge where he held numerous engineering management positions; first in the production and manufacturing operations areas then transferring to the engineering side of the house in 1975 serving as the Y-12 Engineering Site Manager where he was responsible for all engineering and construction projects for the plant. After retiring in August 1996, he returned as an Engineering Consultant and worked until his poor eyesight became a factor. Harry also served as President of Beaver Brook Country Club from 1980-81.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:30PM Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral service will began at 7:30PM with Reverend Danny Jenkins officiating. Interment with military honors will be Monday, April 18, 2011, at 11:00AM at Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton, TN. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
