Harold V. Craft, 90, of Clinton, went to be with his heavenly Father, on Sunday, February 7, 2016, surrounded by his family.
Born in Jackson County, North Carolina, in the community of Tuckasegee, he walked over a big mountain to date the love of his life Martha Lovedahl Craft. Survivors include his beautiful wife of 70 years, Martha; Brother, Bill Craft; sisters, Virginia Ashe and Ruby Hyde; his devoted daughter, Janice Craft Sharp (John Robbins), many nieces & nephews, 7 grandchildren, 10 Great grandchildren, and many faithful friends.
Harold served in the Navy during World War II. He worked for Union Carbide in Oak Ridge at the Y12 plant. He was a supervisor in maintenance and was an electrician. He retired in 1984.
A vowed member of Second Baptist Church in Clinton for over 60 years, he was a deacon and Men's Sunday school teacher for many years. One of his favorite things in life was teaching Gods word to his children and grandchildren a favorite being John 3:16.
'Bop' as he was affectionately known to his family, loved to be outdoors, working in the garden and camping. An expert tomato grower, the best pinochle player ever, and fixer of countless items, he leaves a hole in the hearts of his family. His family remembers his strength, love, modesty, and sense of humor. With his kind soul and spiritual beliefs, he impacted all who crossed his path and was a true friend to anyone in need.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Geneva (Smith) Craft; brother, Alton Craft, Jr.; sister, Dean Craft Curd; son, Jerry Craft; daughter Linda Craft Jenkins.
Visitation for friends and family will be at Holley Gamble Funeral Home on February 11,, 2016 from 5:30-7:00 pm with funeral services to follow with Dr. Michael Thompson officiating. Burial will be 2:00 PM Friday at the Grandview Memorial Garden.
