Harley Loy died July 20, 2010 at Saint Mary's Hospital in LaFollette, Tennessee after a short illness. He was 88 years old. Harley was born Feb. 12, 1922, the 4th of 7 children, in a log cabin in Union County, Tennessee, the son of Bishop Loy and Bessie Cooper Loy. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and was active in the church until his health began to fade. He was a deacon for more than 60 years, and a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Clinton. Harley was a WWII veteran, serving in the Navy in the South Pacific. After the war, he followed the carpentry craft, and worked construction in East Tennessee for most of his working life. His last 21 working years he spent with Union Carbide as a maintenance carpenter.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bishop and Bessie Loy, 3 brothers, Millard, Roy, & Lee Loy; wife of 59 years, Fleda Martin Loy.

He is survived by a son, Bryan Loy of Key Largo, Florida; 3 sisters, Myrtle Green of Clinton, Carrie Foust of Clinton, and Pearl Sexton of Dayton, Ohio; a granddaughter, Jessica Cheyenne Loy of Andersonville; many nieces & nephews and a host of friends and relatives.

Receiving friends will be at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 6-8pm, with the funeral at 8:00PM. The Rev. Jimmy Davidson and the Rev. William Caldwell, Jr. will officiate. Music will be graciously provided. Burial will be at Farmers Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Graveside services will be held on July 23, 2010 at 10am. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of the arrangements.
