Obituary

Gregory Roettger, age 84, of Clinton, TN, passed away at his home on December 25, 2024.  He was born on December 9, 1940, in St. Paul, MN, to the late Lawrence and Margaret Roettger.  He attended St. John's Catholic College for two years and then joined the U.S. Navy.  He served 20 years, becoming Chief Petty Officer.  While serving, he studied nuclear power and served in Antarctica twice.  He was also a Vietnam Veteran and received several awards.  After retirement from the military, he was employed in Palo Verde, AR, for 9 years.  During that time, he earned his master's degree in health and safety.  He was later employed by Bechtel in Oak Ridge, where he retired. Greg enjoyed gardening, traveling, and ballroom dancing.   He attended St. Mary's Catholic Church and First Baptist Church Clinton.

In addition to his parents, Greg is preceded in death by sister Marilyn Steryk.

He is survived by his loving wife, Juanita Burress Roettger; brother, Michael (Ruth) Roettger; sisters Kathryn (Frank) Johnson, and Barbara Linn; stepchildren, Kathy (Bill) Pemberton, Scott Burress, and Sheree (Walter) Long.

The family would like to give special thanks to UT Hospice for all their love and care.

The family will receive friends at Holley Gamble Funeral Home on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 pm, with the funeral service following at 7:00 pm. Greg's interment will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E Governor John Seiver Hwy, Knoxville, TN, with full military honors provided by the Campbell County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.  Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. www.holleygamble.com
