Georgianna Babette Fruewald Bowling, born July 10, 1936, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 23, 2026, at 6:34 p.m., after a long battle with dementia. She is now at peace with her Lord and blessedly reunited with her beloved husband, Richard Irwin Bowling.

Georgianna will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, educator, and servant to her community whose life was defined by compassion, faith, perseverance, and dedication to others.

She shared a loving marriage with Richard Irwin Bowling, and together they raised four sons: Richard Jr., Ronald Alan, Randall Arthur, and Russell Edward.

Georgianna devoted more than 40 years to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher, spending much of her career teaching fourth grade at Claxton Elementary School. She earned her degree in elementary education and, with remarkable determination, completed her master's degree through night classes while raising four active boys at home. She touched the lives of countless students with her patience, kindness, and steady encouragement.

In retirement, her commitment to caring for others continued. She volunteered in the neonatal unit at Oak Ridge Hospital, offering comfort to the smallest and most vulnerable. She also served as a child advocate through CASA and was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Georgianna was a founding member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church. She remained active throughout her life in the church women's group and helped co-manage the church food pantry, always seeking ways to serve those around her.

She was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy. She also had a lifelong love of dogs, especially German Shepherds, and found great happiness in their companionship.

Georgianna cherished time spent with friends, especially gathering for spirited games of pinochle with her church community—times filled with laughter, fellowship, and enduring friendship.

She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, generosity, and the countless lives she touched through her teaching, volunteering, and love for family and community. Her legacy lives on in the many people she nurtured, encouraged, and loved throughout her life.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m., on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Christus Victor Lutheran Church, followed by a service officiated by Pastor Bill Ondracka.
