Rev. George W. Williams,(Preacher), age 99 of Clinton passed away September 7, 2011 at NHC in Oak Ridge. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Clinton. He pastored Crouches Creek Baptist Church, Jellico, Tennessee for 9 years, Second Baptist Church in Clinton, TN for 26 years, Norwood Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN for 9 years, Marble City Baptist Church in Knoxville for 17 years, retired in February, 2010. On April 18, 2011, the Clinton City Council named that day as George W. Williams Day. He is being inducted into the Hall of Fame, on October 6, 2011 by the Boys & Girls Club of North Anderson County. He has served offices in both the State Convention and Anderson County and Knox County. He enjoyed attending both the Tennessee Baptist Convention and Southern Baptist Convention. He was the oldest active minister in State of Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vada Williams in March 9, 2004; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Chris Williams of Jellico; son-in-law, Jack Brooks in July, 2006.

Sister-in-law: Mrs. Buster Williams of Middlesboro, Ky.
Several nieces & nephews.
Special Friends: John Keith, John Gamble, Owen Richardson, Bob Burton, Jim McBride, Ronald Guthrie, Leslie Fielden.
Pallbearer: Jerry Humphrey, Johnfred Thomas, Herbie Clark, Tony Bailey, Eddie Rosenbalm & Jimmy Cogdill.
Honorary pallbearers: All ministers of Clinton and Knox County Association and special friends.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of Morning Pointe Assisted Living and NHC Healthcare for their special care during his illness.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Second Baptist Church of Clinton or First Baptist Church of Clinton.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 9, 2011 from 5-8:000PM at Second Baptist Church with funeral at 8:00PM with Rev. Mike Thompson & Rev. Stan Elliott officiating.

Interment will be Saturday, September 10th at 11:00AM at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton with Rev. Ronald Guthrie officiating. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of the arrangements
