George Irwin Wells, 85, of Clinton passed away January 9, 2016 after a brief illness. He was a proud CW2 military retiree from the US Army after 20 years, and also retired electrician from Y-12 Martin Marietta. He enjoyed spending time with his children and many grand and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, of 60 years, Patricia.
He is survived by daughter Debby and husband Mike, son George and wife Donna, daughter Melissa and husband James; Grandchildren Chris, Matt and wife Carla, Vanessa, Lisa and husband Mike, Shirley and husband Tony, Leah and husband Matt, Drew, and Madison; great grandchildren Braden, CeAnna, Storm, and Hadley. In addition, he is survived by sister in law Marilyn and husband Bill, and sister in law Lee, as well as nieces, nephews, and many close friends and family including the Brubaker family.
He will be laid to rest with his beloved wife at the East TN State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 East Gov. John Sevier Hwy in Knoxville. Family and friends will meet at the graveside Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 1:30pm. Close family and friends will meet for a viewing at 11am at Holly Gamble in Clinton.
