Geneva Reed, age 89, of Claxton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 19, 2015 peacefully with her family by her side. She was born on August 19, 1926 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late John Houston and Mary Etta Russell Burgess. Throughout Geneva's life she enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning, preparing family dinners, and playing cards. Most of all Geneva "Mammaw" enjoyed teaching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to enjoy her favorite hobbies. In addition to her parents, Geneva is proceeded in death by, Husband, William "Bill" Reed; Sons, Johnny Ray, Jimmy Ray and William Franklin Reed; Daughters, Joyce Ann Ray, Anna Faye Reed; Brother, Robert Burgess; Sisters, Imogene "Sissy" Jenkins and Elsie Mae Herron.

28 Great-Grandchildren and 20 Great-Great-Grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Holley Gamble Funeral Home, in Rocky Top, on Monday, December 21, 2015 from 5:00 -7:00 pm with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm with the Rev. Steve McDonald officiating. Geneva's family will gather for a private burial. www.holleygamble.com
