Obituary

Franklin "Scott" Dyer, age 51, of Clinton, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was born on February 6, 1975, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Scott will be remembered exactly how he would've wanted—laughing, joking, and probably picking on someone in the room. He was quick-witted, a natural jokester, and rarely met a stranger he didn't turn into a friend (or the target of a good-natured joke). If there was a crowd, Scott was the life of it.

He had a genuine love for people and a heart just as big as his personality. Scott was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back—without a second thought. Even in his final wishes, he continued his giving spirit by choosing to be an organ donor, helping others even after his passing.

For most of his life, until becoming disabled in 2023, Scott shared his God-given talent for welding and metal fabrication. He wasn't just good at it—he was a master craftsman. Scott could perform intricate metalwork that no one else could, constructing unique, highly specialized items for the nuclear industry and beyond.  If it needed fixing, building, or holding together, Scott was your guy.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline "Jackie" Dyer, and his grandparents.

He is survived by his son, Benjamin Dyer of Clinton; father, Franklin Dyer of Lenoir City; siblings, Micheal Dyer and wife Erica of Lenoir City, and Elizabeth Humphrey and husband Davey of Knoxville; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

The family will receive friends from 10:00–12:00 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow in the chapel with Harry Washington officiating. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of arrangements.
