Obituary

DUE TO PREDICTED WEATHER ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2024, FRANKIE SEIVER'S GRAVESIDE SERVICE HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED UNTIL 2:00 PM, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2024.

Frankie June Melhorn Seivers, age 95, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024 after a brief stay at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN.  She was born at Bell Farm, KY on August 27, 1929, to the late Charlie Christian Melhorn and Vella Dolen Melhorn.

Frankie grew up in a coal mining camp in Fork Mountain, TN, and moved to the family farm in Petros, TN when she was nine years old.  She was confirmed into St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wartburg TN on October 1, 1944.

After graduation from Wartburg Central High School, Frankie took a summer job in Clinton where she met her future husband, James "Jiggs" Seivers.  Instead of starting nursing school as planned, at age 18 she eloped to Rossville GA.

Married for almost 70 years, Frankie and Jiggs remained in Clinton where she first worked at Magnet Mills and then at EG&G Ortec Lab in Oak Ridge, TN from 1967 until she retired in 1994.

They were blessed with 2 children, Lana Seivers and Larry Seivers, 3 grandchildren, and 4

great-grandchildren.  They loved spending time in Long Boat Key FL, going to weekly movies, playing cards, and attending major league baseball and TN Vols games, especially football.  They rarely missed any games or events that their grandchildren or children were involved in, and they were close to many of their children's friends.  Frankie loved cooking, gardening, reading, and shopping for anything she could get on sale and give to the grandchildren.

Most of all she loved her family.   Frankie was never happier than she was in this picture that was taken in 2019 when she celebrated her 90th birthday with her grandchildren and great grandchildren at her son's home.

Upon Jiggs' death in 2017, Frankie moved to Murfreesboro, TN, to The Villages independent living residences where she made many new friends, enjoyed BINGO, and told the chef how to make fried chicken the way she had done for tailgates and family meals. An article about Frankie in the Villages of Murfreesboro Spotlight, said, "Her goal is to live a full life and enjoy being with her friends here.  Seeing her family and old friends who stay in touch and come to visit is special to her.  She considers herself blessed in so many ways."

"Her children rise and call her blessed."    Proverbs 31:28

In addition to her husband and parents, Frankie is preceded in death by her brother, Duard Melhorn; Sister Claudia Caddell; Brothers-In-Law Charles "Bones" Seivers and Hoyt Seivers.

She is survived by children, Lana Seivers and Larry Seivers (Sally); grandchildren, Matthew Yarbrough, Jennifer Nash (Nathan), and Charlie Seivers (Haley); great-grandchildren, Cameron and Caitlin Nash, Harper and Deakin Mac Seivers; many special nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers are:  Larry Seivers, Charlie Seivers, David Seivers, Michael Seivers, Chris Melhorn, Steve Mitchell, Don Elledge, Bear Stephenson, and Honorary Pallbearer Jenks Bostic.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 5-6:30 PM at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. The funeral service will follow at 6:30 PM, with Rev. Steve Misenheimer officiating. Friends and family will meet at Grandview Memorial Garden on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, for a 2:00 PM graveside.

In lieu of flowers, Frankie would be honored to be remembered at the Michael Dunn Center ATTN: Seivers Memorial 1324 Lawnville Rd Kingston, TN 37763.  www.michaeldunncenter.org
