Frances Edmunds Hamilton, 100, died Oct. 1 at Meadow View Senior Living Community, Norris.

She was the daughter of the late Clarence Edmunds and Blossom Edmunds Slatery of Knoxville. Mrs. Hamilton graduated in 1936 from Knoxville High School and in 1940 from the University of Tennessee. Her late husband, Lester Hamilton, was owner and publisher of the Herald-Press in Palestine, Texas, where they lived. In 2008, she moved to Norris.

Mrs. Hamilton belonged to Norris Woman's Club and Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, and was active in the Episcopal Church as a member of St. Philip's, Palestine, and St. Francis, Norris.

Her son Mark Hamilton of Bend, OR, died in 2008. Surviving are her daughter, Frances Oates, and son, Lee Hamilton, both of Norris. Grandchildren include Ceris Geoghegan (Patrick), Greenback; Markham Hamilton (Angela), Mora, NM; Joseph Beach, Austin, TX; Tom Oates, Church Creek, MD; Rosemary Bauer (Bob), Landenberg, PA; Susan Oates, Ardentown, DE; and John Oates, Norristown, PA. Great-grandchildren include Declan, Aine and Niamh Geoghegan; Paloma Hamilton; Robert Hamilton Bauer; Emmett Michael Dwyer; and John Tae-Soon Oates.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 158 W. Norris Road, Norris. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the St. Francis Playground Fund, P.O. Box 29, Norris, TN 37828.
