Frances P. Gooch, age 90, of Norris passed away December 4, 2010. She was born March 19, 1920 in Wilder, TN. Frances was an original member of the historic Cumberland homestead. A member of Norris Religious Fellowship for over 60 years, she held membership in the Norris Woman's Club, Norris Bridge Club and was a group leader of the Golden Agers group. Frances was truly a loving and caring lady and proved it with the work she done throughout her life. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, a Girl Scout leader for many years and later became the caregiver for several family members. Frances was a consummate hostess who enjoyed entertaining friends and family. Besides being overly generous with her time, she was known for her humor and fun-loving spirit. With a sparkle in her eye, she always had a joke or a story that fit every occasion. She was very devoted to her family and friends and is loved by many.
Her family was her life. She will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Hayes Gooch.
Survived by two daughters, Sharonne Lincoln and husband Curtis of Hendersonville, TN and Jennifer McAvoy and husband William of Charlotte, NC; sister, Betty Newman of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Charles Wesley Gee of Pittsburgh, PA- formerly of Knoxville, Matthew Hayes Lincoln of Hendersonville, TN, Mary Frances McAvoy-Middleton and husband Greg of Madison, WI, and William Franklin McAvoy of Charlotte, NC.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 10, 2010 at 11:00AM at Norris Religious Fellowship with Rev. Keith Havercamp officiating. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations in memory of Ms. Gooch be made to Norris Religious Fellowship, P.O. Box 267, Norris, TN 37828.
