Frances Alida Cobb, age 93, passed away Monday, November 3, 2014 in Clinton, Tennessee. She was born May 22, 1921 in Gardner, Massachusetts, and was preceded in death by parents Frank Cobb and Lizzie Vradenburgh Cobb; brother Lawson Cobb and wife, Louise; brother Merton Cobb and wife Arlene; and brother Harland Cobb and wife, Edith. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Kelleran of Las Vegas, Nevada; her son, Robert "Bobby" Fulcher and daughter-in-law, Teresa of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; grandchildren Bobby and Daniel Moore, and Russell and Katherine Fulcher; and great grandchildren Aiden, Serena, and Joey Moore.
Frances resided in Panama City, Florida from 1962 to 2006, and was a member of St. Andrews Methodist Church. Her character was shaped by New England conservatism and wit, the difficult circumstances of her widowed mother, and the principles of kindness, tolerance, and forbearance. Throughout her life she worked diligently as a secretary and a clerk, with 9 years in banking, 32 years of civil service in the United States Air Force, and 6 years with the Panama City News Herald. Other associations included volunteer work for Cub Scouts, Service Officer with the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Enumerator for the U.S. Bureau of the Census, and membership in the Order of the Eastern Star. In 2006, she moved to Oak Ridge, to enjoy her Tennessee grandchildren's school activities. She kept her dear friends and family in her heart and memory throughout her life.
In tribute to her love for Florida's warmth, and the beauty of the Gulf, dunes, live oaks, and wild birds, the family asks those wishing to contribute a memorial to Frances Cobb consider a donation to the Friends of St. Andrews State Park. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date in Gardner, Massachusetts.
