Francene H. Vandergriff, age 81 of Clinton, passed away October 25, 2013. She was born March 7, 1932, to the late Tilden Gray and Ruth Dolan Harber. She attended Clinton High School and in 1949 she married her high school sweetheart, Donald Ray Vandergriff.

As well as being a devoted wife and loving mother, Francene was a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Mary's Hospital. She belonged to St. Mark United Methodist Church and was a member of the 49ers Club, a group of Clinton High graduates of 1949. She was a proud Scout Leader for the Brownie Scouts and Den Mother for the local Cub Scouts. She volunteered with the Girls Softball Association and the local Little League program.

She was an unfailingly kind woman that always offered a hand in friendship to those she met. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Ray Vandergriff; brothers, Jack, Jim and Glen Harber; sisters, Lorene Hensley and Billie Harber.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Doolittle and husband Jay, Debra Vandergriff; her son, Dr. David Von Vandergriff and wife Susan; three granddaughters, Jill Pitkanen, Whitney Bartera and Heather Vandergriff; great grandsons, Korbin and Maddox Pitkanen; several nieces and nephews and countless friends and neighbors.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 29th from 6-8PM at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral service will follow with Rev. Donald Swift and Rev. John Anderson officiating.
