Earl Cate, age 98 of Clinton passed away Monday, September 13, 2010. Mr. Cate is preceded in death by his parents, M. J. and Etta Cate; brothers, Carel, M.J. Jr., and Clifford Cate; sister, Sylvie Smith.

He is survived by step-mother, Elizabeth Cate; daughter, Judy C. Brown of Rex, Georgia; son & daughter-in-law, Jack Howsare & Bobbie of Virginia Beach, Virginia; daughter & son-in-law, Karen & Bob Hamby of Clinton; brother, Charles & Ruth Cate of Powell; granddaughters, Melissa DuPree of Clinton and Elizabeth Doane of Rex, Georgia, Keaton Howsare and Arlene Painter and great-grandchildren;.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 from 6-8PM at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 8:00PM in the chapel.
