Douglas Wilson Rutherford, age 59 of Andersonville, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.

After years of dedicated service in electrical sales, he fulfilled a lifelong dream in 2024 when he purchased his beautiful 35-acre wooded sanctuary in Andersonville. He carried a quiet pride in this accomplishment. He had a special place in his heart for the beach, where he'd happily settle for a captain's platter from JB's Fish Camp in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Those who knew Doug understood his adventurous spirit. The dirtbikes and motorcycles of his younger days gave way to a love of camping and exploring the great outdoors, though his passion for adventure never truly faded.

His parents, Bobby Frank Rutherford and Dorothy Wilson Rutherford, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jennifer Renee Rutherford; son, Evan Rutherford; sister, Donna Roberts and husband David; brother, Joseph "Joe" Rutherford and wife Julie; nieces and nephews, Dustin Roberts and wife Melissa, Derek Roberts and wife Jessica, Winston Rutherford, and Sarah Beth Anaratram and husband Joe; his canine companion, Comet.

Receiving of friends will be from 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Holley Gamble Funeral Home. His funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM with Rev. Dustyn Copeland officiating. Family and friends will go in funeral procession to Norris Memorial Garden on Monday, June 8, 2026 for a 10:00 AM graveside service.
