Dorothy K. Shanlever, age 93, of Clinton, died peacefully in Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center on January 6, 2011. She was born July 6, 1917. Dorothy was a member of Dutch Valley Methodist Church. She had retired from the Anderson County School System after serving several years as a teacher's aid at Dutch Valley Elementary School. Preceded in death by husband Ralph Shanlever; parents Roy and Lauran Elizabeth Denny; son James D. Shanlever; brothers Kurtz Denny, Kenneth Denny, Robert Denny and George Denny; sister Thelma Dail. She is survived by sons Roy Shanlever and wife Charlotte of Hoover, AL, Raymond Shanlever and wife Kay of Knoxville; Grandsons Jeffery Shanlever and wife Tricia, Richard Shanlever and wife Rachel, Michael Shanlever and wife Rebecca, Charles Shanlever and wife Ashley; Great-grand children John David, Vivian, Ralph, Lee and Gracyn.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 9, 2011 from 2:00-3:00pm at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with funeral service at 3:00pm with Pastor's Brenda Poole and Charles Dawn officiating.
