Doris Broadwell Pace of Knoxville died at her home on July 6. Doris was born is Biscoe, NC, to Joseph Julius Broadwell and Nellie Jay Kanoy. After attending Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC, Doris moved to Norris, TN to work for TVA. She met her husband, Norman Alfred Pace, at a dance in Norris. They raised their four children on Pine Road and then moved to Hillvale Road. Doris was an avid collector with broad interests, collecting items as varied as oil lamps, sardine forks, and Noah's Arks. She was a long time member of the Knoxville Questers Club. She enjoyed bridge, loved to travel and garden, and above all, was a serious shopper. Doris was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her brother, Charles Broadwell and his wife Elaine of Sumter, SC; and her children: Joseph of Hartford, CT, Nancy and her husband Mark Shedden of Knoxville and their children Abigail and Magen; Tricia and her husband David Heal of Vancouver, WA and her daughter, Tovia Gehl of Santa Fe, NM, Abigail Pace and her children, Toby and Lina of Savannah, GA; and very special friends, Nancy and Barry Trent of Andersonville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will welcome friends at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton, TN on Monday, July 11, from 5:00PM-7:00PM. Graveside services will be private.
