Halva "Doran" Fletcher, age 79, passed away December 4, 2015 at Methodist Medical Center. He was born December 5, 1935 to the late Jessie and Carl Fletcher. Doran was a graduate of East Tennessee State College where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemisty.
Preceded in death in 2007 by his son Randal Guy Fletcher. Doran will be sadly missed by wife of 58 years, Peggy Walker Fletcher; son Roger and daughter-in-law Jennifer; grandson, Alex; sisters, Karla Kyte and husband, Larry; Glenda Tate and husband Kenneth; brother-in-law, Don Walker and wife Jeannie and a host of special nieces and nephews.
Doran retired in 1986 from DOE as the Director of Enriching Operations Division, after serving 30 years as a federal employee, fulfilling his dream of being retired more years than he worked. Doran was a charter member of DOE's Senior Executive Service, a corp of executives selected for their leadership qualifications.
Doran was a man of few words but full of integrity and humor. He was highly skilled at wood working and had a knack for building and fixing anything he attempted. He was a husband worth loving, a father worth imitating and a friend worth having. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends from 5-7PM on Sunday, December 6, 2015 with a funeral service at 7:00PM with Rev. Stan Elliott and Rev. David Hicks officiating. Graveside services will be Monday, December 7, 2015 at 11:00AM at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
