Deanne Nevils Cook, 69 of Powell, TN stepped into Heaven on December 26, 2012 after a long illness with cancer. Born May 17 1943 in Middlesboro, KY, the third daughter of Burton and Mabel Nevils. She graduated in 1961 from LaFollette High School before attending Carson-Newman College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. Deanne and her husband, David, are faithful members of First Baptist Church of Clinton. She retired from Clinton Utilities Board in 2008. Deanne will be remembered for her humble spirit, quiet grace, and loving heart. Hers was a life lived by faith in Jesus. She always loved, always served, and always gave of herself to others. Only kindness came from her lips; only goodness from the work of her hands.
She is survived by her devoted husband, David Cook; daughters and their husbands, Tasha and Barry Daniel and Kristina and Trey Haury; son and his wife, Bryan and Barbie Cook; grandchildren, Catherine, Luke, Levi, Jack, Sam, Grace, Max, Carter and Braylee; sisters, Bethira Hopson and her husband Ted and Sue Ling; and several dear nephews and nieces as well as their families.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Burton and Mabel Nevils and her brother-in-law, Robert Ling.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church of Clinton's Building Fund at 225 North Main Street, Clinton, Tn. 37716.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 5-7pm at Clinton First Baptist Church with funeral service to follow at 7:00pm with Rev. Stan Elliott officiating. She will be laid to rest on Friday, December 28th at 2:00pm at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of the arrangements. www.holleygamblefh.com.
