David Lynn Pike, age 70, avid entrepreneur, devoted father and loving husband, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2011 in Brentwood, TN.

David was born November 1, 1940 in Knoxville, TN, to the late Marie and Archie Pike. Graduating from Fulton High School in 1959, David worked his way through the University of Tennessee, where, in 1969, he earned a degree in Business Law and Real Estate. In 1970, David opened Heritage Realty, and later had the first ERA franchise in East Tennessee. David honorably served in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard from 1963 until 1969.

On February 22, 1980, David married Cynthia Rhyne. In 1983, David became a stock broker, working for Dean Witter then Waddell and Reed. The couple had two children, born in 1984 and 1985 and relocated to Nashville, TN, in 1986, where David opened Realty Partners and published For Sale by Owner Magazine. David retired in 2000, to enjoy his hobbies of fishing, hunting, and reading. David was recently recognized as one of the longest active real estate brokers in Tennessee.

David taught those he loved to live without fear, something he defined as 'an uncomfortable anticipation of unknown future events'. He encouraged others to embrace change, and seek it often�a skill that David himself had mastered.

David is survived by his wife, Cindy; his children, Veronica and Jonathan; his sister, Doris Painter (Jim) and children, Laura Boatwright (Jimmy) and Leanne Morris (Dan); brother-in-law Gordon Rhyne (Trudy) and children Audrey Tauxe (Gary) and Rachel Kimrey (Josh); brother-in-law Greg Rhyne (Vickie); sister-in-law, Susan Rhyne.

Visitation for David Lynn Pike will be held Tuesday, February 8th, from 3:00-5:00pm, with funeral services following at 5:00 p.m. at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, located at 621 South Charles G.
