David Arthur Newport, Sr., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 14, 2026, at the age of 82. He is now reunited with his parents, Elmer and Hester Newport, and his sister, Janice Hicks.

His greatest joy in life was his family, whom he loved and cherished deeply. He was a devoted husband, loving father to two wonderful sons, and was blessed beyond measure by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His legacy of love and devotion will continue through his family for generations to come.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 61 years, Diana Newport; sons, David Newport Jr. and his wife, Kimberly, and Daniel Newport and his wife, Shannon; grandchildren, Austin Newport, Ashley Turpin, Haley Newport, Eric Newport, Seth Newport and his wife, Hayley, Danielle Newport, Rachel Greene and her husband, Zach, and Sarah Newport. David was blessed with great-grandchildren, Owen Newport, Rhett Newport, Jack Stockstill, River Turpin, and Waylon Turpin; nephew, Timothy Hicks.

Receiving of Friends will be from 5:00-7:00 pm on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home, followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00.
