Obituary

Constance Edna Hatmaker, 75, peacefully departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at La Follette Court Assisted Living.

Born on April 22, 1950 in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Lt. Col. Dwight and Lyla Wilmeth, Constance's early years were shaped by military life, spending much of her childhood in Germany. She was a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University and belonged to the Delta Theta Sigma Sorority. It was at LMU where she met her first husband and the father to her children, William Arnold Jones. Later in life, she found love again with Mirma, whom she married in January 1997. Constance dedicated over 30 years to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher in the Campbell County School System. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and was faithful member of Sequoia Missionary Baptist Church before her health declined. In quieter moments, she found joy in reading, game shows, Andy Griffith reruns, and crime series.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Mirma Hatmaker; parents, Lt. Col Dwight X. and Lyla Mae Ferguson Wilmeth; step-father, Waldo D. Brand; grandparents, William and Edna Ferguson, Howard and Nettie Wilmeth; brother, Dwight X. "Chip" Wilmeth Jr.; grandchildren, Zoey Jones Renfro, Elijah Jones Renfro, and Lastasia Renfro.

She leaves behind her daughters, Lillia Afton Zellers and husband Russall, Letha Peters and husband Shawn; grandchildren, Hayden Renfro, Lanston Hicks, Sammy Zellers, Abigail Peters, and Emily Peters; sisters, Diane Wilmeth Mayer and Margaret Wilmeth; step-sister, Rebecca Brand Hastins; caregiver, Crystalyn Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, special family members and special friends.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at La Follette Court Assisted Living and Beacon Hospice, formerly known as Suncrest Hospice, especially Andrew Ayers, Bridgett Myers, Pascah Brummett, Tiffany Osborne, and Donna Gent.

She will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Mirma at Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 10:00 am.
