Clyde Clemmons Cox, 91, of Clinton, Tennessee peacefully departed this life Friday evening October 25, 2013 at Gordon Health Care in Calhoun, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mary Etta and Ross Conda Cox and his loving wife of 67 years, Hazel Wallace Cox. He was also preceded by sister Geneva Cox Gentry, and brothers Aaron, Elmer, Kenneth, Link, Esco, Condy and Lenza Cox.
He is survived by his daughter Twilla Cox Gouffon (Robert) of Dalton, GA.; two granddaughters Abbie Hendry Hammett (Brian) and Ashley Gouffon Hoskins (Chad) both of Franklin, TN.; six great grandchildren Carter and Claire Hendry, Hayes and Pierce Hoskins, and Mackenzie and Madi Hammett all of Franklin, TN. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Clyde served his country during World War II with the Army of the United States in the European Theater Operations from 1942-1945. He was with the 7thArmored Infantry Division in ammunitions and military police.
Clyde, a member of the Anderson County Masonic Lodge, was a longtime craftsman and worked in the home building industry for over 40 years in the Knoxville area. His love for farming and nature were life-long passions. He enjoyed country music, spending time with family and friends, and reading. Born and raised in Anderson County he took great pride in his family roots and his community.
A Memorial Service to honor Clyde will be held at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton, TN on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 1 o'clock. Cremains will be placed with his wife, Hazel, in Norris Memorial Gardens.
