Claretta Slover Davis of Lake City, Tennessee presented herself before her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 08, 2011. Her gift of song can now be heard throughout the Heavens. Born in Anderson County, she was the youngest of nine children to bless James Kelly and Hazy Ethel Craig Slover. Claretta is a member of Main Street Baptist Church and also attended Lake City Christian Fellowship with her husband, Robert. Robert and Claretta entered into a marriage covenant on May 11, 1985 at Main Street Baptist Church with the blessings of former pastor, Dr. Ray Jones of Wise, Virginia.

Entering the heavenly realm and presenting herself boldly before the Lord, she has drifted from the sight of her best friend, partner and husband, Robert E. Davis, Jr. Claretta's son, Matthew C. Walters, his wife Angela and grandchildren Jacob and Gracie have also lost sight of her, but never her presence for she is in Jesus and so are we. When we sense his presence, we know Claretta is with him.

Standing with the Lord to receive Claretta are her parents and sisters, Hazel S. Disney, Bernice Varner and Edna Norman. Four sisters, Mary Ruth Fox of Strawberry Plains, Betty Pickrell of Lake City, Evelyn Davis of Clinton, Linda and husband James Lindsay of Lake City and one brother, J.D. and wife Jo Ann Slover patiently wait for the reunion. Devoted nephews and nieces stand in anticipating of a reunion with Aunt Clare. Celebrating with the family are special friends, Linda Darland, Florence Whitney and Linda Hobbs, Vernon and Gail Davis, Jimmy and Connie Gibson, Terry and Donna Smith and Bob and Penny Phipps. Employees / retirees of Kimberly-Clark and all brothers and sisters in Christ are welcome to join the celebration.

Officiating ministers, Rev. Wayne Phillips and Rev. Penny Phipps will give honor and glory to the Lord and the life of Claretta on February 10, 2011 at Main Street Baptist Church, located on Fourth St. in Lake City. Visitation is from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with services to follow. Praise music will be led by the choir at Main Street Baptist Church with Claretta's special songs of worship. Interment will be on Friday, February 11, 2011. The family will depart from Holly Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton at 12:30 P.M. for a scenic drive through the East Tennessee hills to Oak Ridge Memorial Park, Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Claretta's kittens, Pumpkin, Sassy, Coco and Tommie will miss her warm lap. Friends and family will miss her smile and warm heart. But I, Robert, will miss the greatest example of God's unselfish love, patience, grace and beauty. Farewell my beloved, Claretta.
