Rev. Clarence Wells, 89 went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 27, 2010. He served many years as a Pastor in Knox, Anderson, Campbell and Loudon Counties. God led him to hold many revivals throughout the Southeastern United States. His passion in this life was to see others come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. He loved to be outdoors working and was an avid walker with great physical strength into his mid 80's. Even after dementia stole his memory, he continued to want to preach and share his love of Jesus Christ. He was a member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pearl Wells; his siblings, Hubert, Dean, Thelma and Blanche; his wife, Lillian Campbell Wells; his stepchildren, Jake Campbell and Carol Watkins, and grandson, Kent Elliott.

He is survived by his first wife, Pauline Wells Patton; son, Wayne (Myra) Wells; his daughter, Carolyn (Jon) Shipley; his stepdaughters, Janice (Bob) Moore, Anna (Richard) Elliott; son-in-law, Richard Watkins and daughter in law, Sarah Campbell. His grandchildren, Mark A. Wells, Kipp Shipley, Windy (Vickie) York, Jamie (Ronnie) Cash, Aaron and Amanda Watkins, Leslie Griffith, Bobby Moore, Beth Lliteras, Jake Campbell and Elaine Loveday; great-grandchildren, Brandon (Brittany) York, Sarah and Cathy Cash, Ashley (Brian) Massengale, Jackie York, Cheryl Conner, Taylor, Savannah & Robert Moore. He loved seeing and playing with his Great, great grandson, Ethan York and Great-great-granddaughter, Maci Massengale. He is survived by his brother, Lon Wells and his sister, Gladys Roach. He has many nieces and nephews as well. Special nieces who have consistently visited and cared for him are Dot (Tom) Milligan and Billie Faye (Bob) McGhee.

Special thanks to all his caregivers over the last 18 months at the Estates of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The love and care you gave to him will always be remembered. Thanks to those at Briarcliff Nursing Home who worked so hard to help him make his transition to living there these last weeks. Many thanks to the 2 West staff at Methodist Medical Center who worked so hard to make him comfortable these last days.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 28, 2010 from 6-8PM at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with Rev. Arville J. Crawford conducting the funeral at 8:00PM. Burial will be Monday, November 29th at 10:00AM at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of the arrangements
