Obituary

Charlotte Ann Hensley of Knoxville passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the age of 75.

Charlotte was born in Sneedville, Tennessee, on January 15, 1950, and spent her life rooted in the hills of East Tennessee, close to the people and places she cherished most. She worked in many places over the years, always giving her best wherever she was needed. She was known for her strong work ethic, her willingness to help others, and the care she brought into every role she held.

Charlotte deeply loved her family and found joy in the simple beauty of God's creation. She adored watching the deer that wandered through the East Tennessee hills. Her face would light up and those blue eyes shine each time she felt the tug of a fish at the end of her line. She had a generous heart and a tremendous desire to give, often participating in Angel Tree and Toys for Tots so she could help children and families in need.

While she valued all these things, her first love was her Lord and Savior. He was her comfort through many days of trial, and she looked forward with hope and assurance to the day she would live forever with her Heavenly Father.

Charlotte loved her two sons with all the strength a mother can love, and she cherished her husband and best friend, Mike, with a deep and faithful devotion. Her family will carry her memory forward in every story shared, every act of kindness, and every moment of love.

Her parents, James and Verda Purkey, and her best friend, Dorothy Cummins, preceded her in death.

She will be deeply missed by her husband of 31 years, Mike Taylor; sons, Shawn Lamar Hensley and his girlfriend, Wendy Winn, and Dustin Dean Hensley and his girlfriend, Kelli Moody.

Receiving of Friends will be from 5–8 pm on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Charlotte's Celebration of Life will begin at  2 pm on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Island Home Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2521 Norris Fwy, Norris, TN 37828. She will be laid to rest at Norris Memorial Gardens following the Funeral Service.

In honor of the love Charlotte had for others, and in lieu of flowers, we would love for those attending the visitation on Thursday evening to bring an unwrapped children's Christmas gift to be donated to Toys for Tots.

Holley Gamble Funeral Home is proud to be serving the Hensley family.
