Charles Stuart "Chuck" Swinney of Clinton, died on January 4, 2015 at NHC Oak Ridge at age 72.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Pat Swinney, their daughter, Alison Gafford, of Oak Ridge, their son Robert and wife Tammy of Bozeman, Montana, grandson Jaxon Gafford of Oak Ridge, brother Don Swinney and wife Delores of Vienna, Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Swinney received a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. While there, he was a member of the Corp of Cadets and marched with the Highty Tighties band. He received a Master of Management Science from the University of Tennessee. Mr. Swinney was employed for many years by various U.S. Department of Energy contractors in Oak Ridge. He also worked for National Safe Skies Alliance in Alcoa.

Mr. Swinney was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. At other congregations, he served in leadership and teaching capacities with youth and adults for many years. He was a dedicated volunteer at numerous civic organizations including Methodist Medical Center, Community Mediation Services, and Recording for the Blind. Mr. Swinney enjoyed a variety of hobbies and activities including beekeeping, hiking, caning, woodworking, and choral singing.

A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 212 North Tulane Ave., Oak Ridge on Saturday, January 10 at 11AM. Interment of ashes will be in St. Stephen's Memorial Garden immediately following the service. The family will receive friends at a reception in the Parish Hall following the interment.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephen's or a charity of your choice.
