Charles Harrell Rutherford, age 89, passed away at his home on September 22, 2011. He was a proud veteran of World War II, stationed in Spanhoe, England. He graduated from Norris High School and Tennessee Polytechnic Institute. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Clinton and retired from Sears after 29 years.
He was a wonderful husband and father. His favorite pastime was 'piddling', but it was always with a purpose and he always illustrated patience, ingenuity, and perfection when completing his projects. He was truly one of the "Greatest Generation" as demonstrated in many ways throughout his life.

Mr. Rutherford was honored to participate in the HonorAir trip to Washington on October 29, 2008. This trip was very special to him.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the HonorAir Knoxville or Covenant Hospice.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 24th from 5-7PM at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral service will be Sunday, September 25th at 2PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Stan Elliott officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Clinton.
