Charles Frank Mounger passed away on September 23, 2025, at the age of 101 years old. He was born to William C. and Snowa Flake Ellis Mounger on November 3, 1923. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Helen, three siblings, and grandson Jerry Charles "Chuck" Mounger.

His early years were filled working on the family farm and attending Scarboro School, where he excelled as a basketball player.

Frank joined the WWII war effort as a Marine; he fought on Iwo Jima and witnessed the iconic flag raising on Mount Suribachi. Upon returning to Clinton, Frank married his one true love; Mary Helen Stout. The couple were blessed with three sons and a daughter. Sadly, Mary Helen passed away after 25 years of marriage.

For 41 years, Frank was employed on the evening shift at The Oak Ridge National Laboratory; where he enjoyed playing in the company baseball and basketball league. He filled his days being a single parent, mowing yards, and enjoying his CB radio hobby.

Frank was a dedicated member of the Saint Marks Methodist Church and a Member of Free and Accepted Masons Alpha Lodge #376. In later years of retirement, he experienced the HonorAir Flight to Washington; a deeply moving tribute to his service.

Frank leaves behind his children and their spouses: sons Jerry Frank (Jane), Gary Brent (Becky), and Dale Steven Mounger; daughter Rhonda Kay Allender (Gary).  In addition, his grandchildren and spouses: Melanie Mounger, Andy (Bethany)Mounger, Jake (Nicole)Mounger, Gary Mounger, Brock (Dana) Allender, Jill (Dustin) Scobey. Great Grandchildren: Gibson, Kinley, Gabriel, Gwendolyn Mounger; Aubrey, Boone, Isla, Briggs Allender; Diana Scobey.

The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00 pm, Monday, September 29, 2025 at Holley Gamble Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow in the chapel.  His graveside will immediately follow at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens, Claxton.
