Charles Henry Flood of Clinton, Tennessee passed away on July 14, 2011. He was 90 years old. A native of Morehead, Kentucky, he first came to Anderson County in 1943 to work on the Manhatten Project. He met the love of his life, Theira Jordan who had grown up in Robertsville, Tennessee in the area that is now the Y-12 plant. They just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on July 5, 2011.

Charlie, as he was known by his friends, was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of the Carpenters Union for over 50 years, local 50. He retired from Union Carbide with 24 years of service. A life long Mason, he and Theira traveled extensively with the Eastern Star. They visited all 50 states on their travels.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Nell and Mike Flood. His older sister, Francis also precedes him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Theira; sons, Mike and wife Teresa of Cleveland, Tennessee, Chuck and wife Donna of Clinton; four grandchildren, Charles (Bryan) Flood and wife Rhonda of Lake City, Henry Flood of Cleveland, David Flood of Clinton and Heather Flood of Nashville; two great-grandchildren, Derrick and Leigh of Lake City; two sisters, Gladys Wiggins of Mt. Clemons, Michigan and Vivian Carpenter of Morehead, Kentucky.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 18, 2011 from 5-7PM at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 7:00PM in the chapel with Rev. Donald Swift officiating.
