Charlene Adkins, 85, of Dunkirk, IN, passed away Friday, September 15, 2017 suddenly in Muncie, IN.
Charlene was born in DeVonia, TN on February 25, 1932. The daughter of the late Susie (York) and Dorsey Patterson. She worked as an Inspector Checker at Kerr Glass of Dunkirk and was a member of local 96 glass workers union. She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church, Dunkirk and loved knitting, crocheting, gardening, cooking, watching soap operas on TV and especially spending time with children and grandchildren.
Charlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Curtis Adkins in 1967.
She is survived by two sons, Benny Keith Adkins of Dunkirk and Bill Adkins of Stow, OH; Five grandchildren; three sisters, Clorene Dougherty of Oliver Springs, TN, Bobbie (Bill) Hibbs of Jacksonville, AK; brother, Leland (Dee) Patterson of Brooklyn, OH.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 12 pm to 2 pm in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Reverend Wayne Phillips officiating. Following the service, family and friends will proceed to Anderson Memorial Gardens for interment.
