Catherine Conley Webb (Keown), age 86, died peacefully at home Friday night, July 5, 2013. Mrs. Webb was a lifelong teacher, learner, avid reader, and loving mother. She was a member of Clinton First Baptist Church since 1976. She received a bachelor's degree in teaching from Berry College in Mount Berry, Georgia. She had many stories about her job as driver of the school car and editor of Berry's news column "Cat's Clause". She remained close to the friends that she made there for the rest of her life. Later in her career, Mrs. Webb attended graduate school studying developmental reading at Tennessee Tech University. Mrs. Webb taught in schools in Cartersville and LaFayette, Georgia, and Polk County, Smith County, and Anderson County, Tennessee. While she was in Anderson County, she became a business teacher at the Anderson County Vocational School and taught one of the first micro-computer based business courses in the Nation. Mrs. Webb leaves behind her daughter, Leslie Webb, Heiskell,Tn., her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Leslie Jo Webb and their daughter Elizabeth Webb, Bryan Texas, her daughter and son-in-law, Carla and David Scott, Charlotte, N.C., and their two children, Evan and Elizabeth Scott. She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Webb, her parents, Nora and Ben Keown, Sr., her brothers Ralph Keown, Charles Keown, Harvey Keown, and Ben Keown, Jr., and her sister, Elizabeth Keown. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the Clinton Public Library, 118 South Hicks Street Clinton, TN 37716. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, funeral services at 11:00 a.m., Thursday July 11, 2013 at Holley-Gamble Chapel, the Rev Terry Baker officiating burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Garden.
