Carrol Williams Boyd of Clinton passed away October 14, 2015 from complications of pneumonia. She was born October 25, 1934. Carrol was a member of the Bonny Kate Chapter of the DAR and a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Clinton. After graduating from Clinton High School and from Sullins College in Bristol, VA, she went to work at Y-12 Plant in Oak Ridge; she then went to work at the family business, Clinton Marine, along with her brother, Allan. She married Ben Boyd of Knoxville in 1968. To their delight, they had a daughter, Katharine Elizabeth.
An astute business woman, she established the Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio in Clinton. Well known for her charm and grace, Carrol was a role model for many women in the area. After selling the Studio, Carrol went to work as an Executive Assistant in Oak Ridge for several years.
Proceeded in death by parents: Lee Basil Williams and Katharine Caldwell Williams; brother Allan Williams; husband Benjamin S. Boyd; uncles Kenneth Caldwell of Clinton, Luke Caldwell, Ronny Caldwell and Billy Caldwell all of Michigan, aunts Mildred Scruggs of Knoxville
She is survived by her daughter, Katharine Boyd Hosford and husband Matt; cousins Mark Caldwell and family, Clinton; Charlene Caldwell Podzikowski (Jerry) and family, Oxford, Michigan; David Caldwell (Laura) and family, Milford, Michigan, Brenda Caldwell Baltrus of Michigan; several nieces and nephews. Special friends Gary Wayne and Nancy Scott, Lenoir City; Keith and Carol Meade Jamerson, Knoxville and a host of friends.
Graveside service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery on Sunday, October 17, 2015 at 2:00PM. A reception will follow the service at 521 Riverside Drive, Clinton, TN.www.holleygamble.com
