Carl Robert Smith, age 85 of Powell, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 18, 2014. Preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae Smith; parents, Charles and Pearl Smith; infant sister, Mildred. He is survived by twin daughters, Anna Metcalf (Doug) and Kathy Whitson (Trey); daughters, Brenda, Betty, Darlene, Sharon, Annie and Teresa; sons, Bill, Mike, Robbie, Jerry, and Jim; four stepchildren, Louise, Deborah, Merla and Raymond; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Carl was a tender loving daddy and papaw who shared his life and dreams without a second thought. He gave to others his wisdom and experiences hoping to encourage the weary and distraught. His stories and humor often brought smiles to all who were around him. He will be remembered for his gracious love and support. He guided with a stern but precious hand.
