Carl Joseph Rutherford, a lifetime resident of Anderson County and ardent Tennessee Volunteer fan, passed away October 26, 2011 at the age of 92.
He was a member of Clinton Church of Christ where he served as a deacon and as the church treasurer for 45 years. Carl served in the U. S. Army during World War II. After completing his assignment with the Army, he hired on at Oak Ridge Associated Universities as an accountant, a position he held for 44 years. Carl spent countless hours in support of youth and civic activities in the Clinton community, and was a life time member of the Clinton Optimist Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell & Ada Rutherford, and his nice Becky.

Carl is survived by his wife, Josephine (Jo) Rutherford. They had 68 loving years of marriage together, attending countless Tennessee football and basketball games, as well as following their granddaughters' sporting activities. He is survived by daughter, Debbie Long & husband Steve of Clinton; Grandchildren: Brandi Boshears & husband Andrew of Clinton, Staci Lollar & husband Nick of Clinton; Great-Grandson, Pierson Lollar;
Sister, Phyllis Stooksbury & husband Homer of Powell; Special Friend: Diana Thomason of Norris; Beloved niece & nephew, Pam Daniels & husband Jack of Nashville Area and Monte Stooksbury of Knoxville.

Carl's time spent and love given to his family will always be treasured. Wewill miss you PeePaw.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 12:00 noon to 2:00PM at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral to follow in the chapel with Minister Gary Jones officiating. Graveside services will follow, officiated by Minister Richard Bentley, at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton.
