Carl Clifton King Jr, age 95, of Clinton, TN, passed away peacefully Monday, April 7th, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.
Carl was born on May 20th, 1929 in Calvin, Virginia to Carl and Edna (Lunsford) King. He was the eldest of 8 children and loved sharing childhood stories. He served in the army, in Korea, from 1946 to 1948. May 1st, 1950, he married his sweetheart, Vivian (Clem) King. They had 11 children and were together 58 years until Vivian passed away, September 11, 2008. He was a dedicated member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He loved spending time with family, reading and watching baseball. His main goal in life was loving his family, always making sure each member knew how much they were loved and leading them to God.
Carl is preceded in death by his wife, Vivian (Clem) King; parents Carl and Edna (Lunsford) King; brothers Ray, Don and Gale; sisters, Faye Clark and Phyllis Trigg; sons, Howard, Chris and Gregory; grandson, James Burtlow; granddaughter, Tina Miller and son-in-laws Allen Miller and Marty Dietsch.
Carl is survived by sisters, Shirley Bruns and Trish Mason; sons, Nick (Lena), Carl (Jacki), Paul (Christine), Phil (Donna), Patrick (Holly), daughters, Debra Dietsch, Kathy (Wayne)Lee, Ruth (Tom) Burgess; grandchildren Louie King, Roy King, Lisa Raines, Mike Burtlow, Douglas Burtlow, Michael King, Sandy Powell, John Miller, Ryan Miller, Jeremiah King, Priscilla King, Phillip King Jr, Kevin King, Sarah Hanna, Tanya Hill, Tim Gaines Jr, Nikko Todd, Brittany King and Miranda King. He's also survived by many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and family from 10:00-11:00 am, Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oak Ridge, TN with a funeral mass following visitation. Holley Gamble funeral Home and St. Mary's church are in charge of arrangements. holleygamble.com
