Brenda Gail Wentworth finished her race on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at the age 64 and was greeted at the finish line by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Though she frequently experienced pain and loss, Brenda lived her life with a heart full of love, forever in awe of her creator. She was a fighter who constantly defied all odds against her. She was an avid runner and adventurer. From triathlons, kayaking, passing the 1996 Olympic Torch to the late Pat Summitt, and skydiving at 60, Brenda lived life to its fullest. A 1970 graduate of Clinton High School, Brenda went on to earn her BA in Education from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and nothing gave her greater joy than teaching countless children about the love of Christ through her 40 plus years of service as a Sunday School teacher and Children's Ministry Leader. This is the legacy for which she will most be remembered. Well done, good and faithful servant.
Brenda's love was a blanket of comfort and protection for her family. An example of love, loyalty, grace, and forgiveness, she always taught to love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself.
Brenda was preceeded into the arms of Christ by her baby son David Wentworth, her mother Dorothy Brown, her father Herbert Fritts, and nephew Timothy Brown.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her daddy, Walter Brown of Claxton, brothers, Anderson County Commissioner Chuck Fritts and wife Debbie of Claxton, Wayne Brown and wife Michelle of Greenville TN, Rev. Steve Brown and wife Vanita of Lawrenceville, GA, Russ Brown and wife Kathy of Alexandria, VA. Nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own children: Jayson (Sarah) Brown, Kerri Brown, Matthew (Donny) Peter-Fritts, Marie (Justin) Maine, Christopher (Lindsay) Brown, Leah Lansdon, Rachel (Tyler) Mayes, Deana (Ryan) Schaffer, David Gazzo, and Ashley Brown. Great nieces and nephews: Sheridan, Riley, Jocelyn, Kate, Kennedy, Ava, Madelyn, Emery, Xavier, and Sadie.
A celebration of Brenda's life will be from 5-8 pm Wednesday, November 16 at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton, TN. A private funeral and burial service will be Thursday, November 17 with beloved friend and colleague Jerry Loveday officiating.
